So I was looking through some old pictures on my camera and I ran across these...
The pics below represent 4 very happy docs. Well, kind of. They were stuck in the SICU (surgical ICU) for a month long rotation so they decided to bond. In typical male fashion, they chose to grow some man facial hair. Over the course of one month, these bald-faced (except for my hairy man Joel) men grew out some pretty choice goatees.
Geez Joel, you look freak'n tired!
Hey, at least you liked the guys you
were stuck with, right?

To celebrate their completion of a "month of hades" (for me too), they decided to shave off the lower portion of their goatees. They look so freak'n hot! They even rounded on all of their patients like this.
Joel, please inform what this "pose" is...it looks like
Ryan is trying to put somebody in his place??
Was he the alpha male of the group - were y'all
his "ladies"??
Just look at our poor tired husbands' eyes
Jenny...they look like crap! Poor guys!

I was outside chill'n with the kids when Joel came home that day. He gave me a big smile and proceeded to ask me how my day was. He pulled up a chair next to me while I was blabbering on. I causally glanced his way during my monologue and burst into laughter. Ahhh! what was that THING growing under his nose??? So after the laughter subsided, I wanted him to shave it off immediately. I couldn't stand to look at it any longer! We were going on a date that night and I demanded he shave it by then. He wouldn't.
Ummmm, finally he realized that if we were to enjoy our evening, he would have to be mustache-free. Whew!
So Joel never has to rotate in SICU or TICU or any other ICU crap again. Did you catch the enormity of that statement: AGAIN! Wahoo! Another wonderful thing is he will be done with pediatric call after this week too! Double wahoo! We are on the home stretch - about 8 1/2 months left. I know, I know, "real life" has its issues too, but I can't help but say....
BRING IT!

I really liked the moustache... it was all we had to hang on to that month... good friends in the SICU- "priceless"
What a WONDERFUL feeling!!! Revel in it, love it, embrace it!!! It's awesome, isn't it? You're going to really love these next few months because amongst the good-byes and the stress of a big move, you can just say to yourselves "We're DONE!"
Heather: Would you trust your operation to a doctor who can't remember to shave? Joel does look better without the hairy lip. Glad to see things are coming to the proper end. I promise, there is life after! Best wishes to the little Gardners. Dad
scary mustache man!!!!!
I am so used to seeing Joely with the goat-t(sp?), but the mustache is freaky 1970's gigolo!!! We need to see his hairy chest and the look will be complete! Sexy!
